From Marybert Children Home to a Master’s Degree in Austria: Rojan Shakya’s Inspiring Journey

A Humble Beginning
Rojan grew up at Marybert Children Home in Nepal, where he received not only shelter but also care, guidance, and access to education. Through the continued support of MySmallHelp and its generous sponsors, he was able to attend school and focus on building a better future.
Like many children from disadvantaged backgrounds, Rojan faced challenges that could easily have limited his opportunities. Instead, he chose to work hard, remain focused, and make the most of every opportunity he was given.
A Passion for Learning
Throughout his school years, Rojan demonstrated dedication and perseverance. He successfully completed his schooling before continuing his higher education and earning a Bachelor’s degree in Business Studies.
His commitment to learning did not stop there. Motivated to expand his knowledge and develop skills that could make a meaningful impact, he applied for postgraduate studies abroad.
Achieving an International Scholarship
Rojan’s hard work was rewarded when he earned a full scholarship to pursue a Master’s degree in Economics and Business Analytics at Johannes Kepler University in Linz, Austria.
Moving to a new country brought fresh opportunities as well as new challenges. Adapting to a different culture, managing academic demands, and living independently required resilience and determination.
To support himself while studying, Rojan also works part-time two days a week, balancing employment with the rigorous demands of his Master’s programme.
Continuing to Move Forward
Rojan is making steady progress in his studies and has successfully completed 10 of his examinations, with more ahead as he works toward completing his degree.
His achievements are the result of years of perseverance, discipline, and the unwavering belief that education can transform lives.
