Smriti Rai’s journey is a powerful example of how education can transform a child’s future.

Smriti lost both of her parents before she had the chance to know them. Her father passed away before she was born, and her mother died shortly after giving birth. She was lovingly raised by her aunt, Ambika Limbu, who worked as a school maid and struggled to provide for the family while ensuring Smriti could attend school.

In June 2015, MySmallHelp welcomed Smriti into its Child Sponsorship Programme. At the time, she was studying in Grade 5 and was known as a shy, hardworking student who loved dancing and was dedicated to her education.

Through the generosity and commitment of Dani from the United Kingdom and Hildegard from Germany, Smriti received continuous educational support throughout her school years. Their sponsorship enabled her to study without the burden of financial hardship and gave her the confidence to pursue her dreams.

With the support of MySmallHelp and her sponsors, Smriti successfully completed her Secondary Education Examination (SEE) and continued her studies in the Management stream for Grades 11 and 12, completing her higher secondary education.

Smriti’s journey highlights the life-changing impact of long-term educational sponsorship.
