At MySmallHelp, we believe that education has the power to transform lives. Every child we support has a unique story, but some journeys beautifully demonstrate the lasting impact that kindness, opportunity, and determination can have. One such inspiring story is that of Rozy Lama.
Rozy joined the MySmallHelp Child Sponsorship Programme in 2007. Coming from a family with limited financial resources, continuing her education would have been a significant challenge without support. Thanks to the generosity of MySmallHelp’s sponsors and supporters, she was able to stay in school and focus on building a brighter future.
From an early age, Rozy showed determination and a willingness to work hard. With the encouragement of her teachers, family, and sponsors, she successfully completed her school education and went on to study Management at Higher Secondary level. Education gave her confidence, but she also understood the importance of developing practical skills that would help her build a career.
Driven by her passion for hospitality, Rozy completed professional Barista and Cooking training after finishing her studies. The training equipped her with valuable culinary and hospitality skills, opening the door to employment in Nepal’s growing hospitality industry.
She began her professional journey working as a cook and bartender, where she gained hands-on experience and developed the discipline and confidence needed in a professional kitchen. Her commitment and dedication soon earned her an opportunity to work as a cook in one of Nepal’s leading five-star hotels, an achievement that reflected years of hard work and perseverance.
Like many people around the world, Rozy faced uncertainty during the COVID-19 pandemic. However, she remained determined to continue growing professionally. Her resilience was rewarded when she secured an international position as a Cook at Alici Restaurant in Dubai, where she now works alongside an international team of hospitality professionals.
Today, Rozy is not only building a successful career abroad but also supporting her family and creating new opportunities for herself. Her journey from a sponsored child in Nepal to a skilled hospitality professional working overseas is a powerful example of how education can change lives.
For everyone at MySmallHelp, Rozy’s success is a reminder of why our work matters. Behind every scholarship is a child with dreams, talents, and the potential to achieve great things. With the continued support of our sponsors, those dreams can become reality.
Rozy’s journey belongs not only to her but also to every sponsor who believed in the power of education. Their generosity helped provide more than school fees—it gave a young girl the opportunity to discover her potential, develop valuable skills, and build an independent future.
As we celebrate Rozy’s achievements, we also look forward to seeing many more children follow in her footsteps. Together, we are creating opportunities, transforming lives, and building brighter futures—one child at a time.
We extend our heartfelt congratulations to Rozy and wish her every success as she continues her inspiring journey. Thank you to all our sponsors and supporters for making stories like this possible.
