Education That Changes Lives
At MySmallHelp Nepal, we believe that every child deserves the opportunity to learn in a safe, inspiring, and supportive environment. For children attending Shree Jay Durge Dalit Basic School, this vision has become a reality through the generous support of MySmallHelp UK and Schools For Nepal, Australia.
Located in Nichuta, Paterwa Village near Birgunj, the school serves children from predominantly Dalit and economically disadvantaged families. Most parents rely on subsistence farming or daily wage labour, making education one of the few pathways toward a brighter future.
Despite the determination of students and teachers, the school struggled for many years with inadequate infrastructure. Classrooms were unfinished, basic facilities were lacking, and children faced difficult learning conditions every day.
Recognising these challenges, MySmallHelp Nepal launched a project to improve the school’s infrastructure and create a learning environment where every child could thrive.
Working Together for Change
This project was made possible through the generous funding of MySmallHelp UK and Schools For Nepal, Australia, whose continued commitment to education has transformed learning opportunities for children in rural Nepal.
The project was coordinated by Binod Maharjan, who worked closely with the school management committee, local authorities, contractors, teachers, and community members throughout the planning and construction process. Careful supervision and strong community collaboration ensured that the project was completed efficiently and to a high standard.
Transforming the Learning Environment
The project focused on improving essential school infrastructure to provide students with a safe and comfortable place to learn.
Major improvements included:
- Completion of unfinished classrooms
- Construction and finishing of roofing
- Plastering and painting of classroom walls
- Installation of doors and windows
- Durable classroom flooring
- Improved toilet and sanitation facilities
- Better access to clean drinking water
- Safer and more welcoming school surroundings
These improvements have created classrooms that are brighter, safer, and better suited for learning throughout the year.
Creating Lasting Impact
The transformation of Shree Jay Durge Dalit Basic School extends far beyond new buildings.
Today, students can learn in classrooms that provide safety, comfort, and dignity. Teachers have improved teaching environments, while parents have greater confidence in sending their children to school.
For many families, education represents the greatest opportunity to overcome poverty and create better futures. Every classroom built, every facility improved, and every child supported contributes to stronger families and a more resilient community.
The project has also strengthened community ownership, bringing together parents, teachers, local leaders, and supporters with a shared commitment to ensuring that every child has access to quality education.
Thank You to Our Partners

Looking Ahead

As the school grows, further investment in educational resources, technology, library facilities, teacher development, and student support programmes will help ensure that every child receives the quality education they deserve.
Together with our partners and supporters, MySmallHelp Nepal remains committed to building stronger schools, empowering communities, and creating brighter futures for children across Nepal.
Because every child deserves the chance to learn, dream, and succeed.
