Sponsor a child or disabled person in Peru

MySmallHelp Peru believes that all children and disabled people should have access to their basic human rights and that providing education and health care is the key to a brighter future.

SPONSOR a child or disabled person through MySmalllHelp Peru and help not just one individual but a whole group of beneficiaries. Sponsorship funds are collected to help us to grow the projects as a whole and funds are allocated on a needs basis prioritising the basic access to education.

MySmallHelp is the start of an incredible one-to-one relationship between you and your sponsored child or disabled person.

As a sponsor, you will receive:
Annual update on your sponsored child or disabled person.
Photos, letters and/or art work.
Annual e-newsletter update on the whole project.

lf you would like to know any additional information about the person you are sponsoring our team will endeavour to answer any questions. MySmallHelp can also let you know what the person you are sponsoring needs if you want to send a birthday or christmas gift by post. We can also arrange for you to come and meet them if you would like!

Your sponsorship will be reviewed on an annual basis and if it is decided that sponsorship is no longer needed for the person you are sponsoring we will give you details of a new person we would like you to sponsor.

  Lourdes Mariana
General summary
  Name: Lourdes Mariana
  Age: 5

Little Lourdes (or Lulu, as she is affectionately known) was born with Down syndrome and has a moderate intellectual disability. She also suffers from dental problems and is lactose intolerant. Lulu is a sweet, kind-hearted individual who is always concerned with the welfare of her classmates and who tries to help with everything. Lulu attends the Arco Iris School five days a week where she participates in group activities, recreation (especially dance) and individual therapy to stimulate her functional skills. She is a very cheerful and interactive student, who hardly misses a day of class and is always happy to study. Lulu would benefit from donations towards a surgery to improve her heart condition and for dental surgery.

General summary
  Name: Leonel
  Age: 8

Born with a hearing impairment, Leonel does not speak and can only understand speech when spoken to loudly and through lip-reading. He is an extremely bright and imaginative child, and has created a language of his own through hand gestures which almost anybody can immediately understand. He can also communicate through drawings, and has begun to learn formal sign language. Though Leonel does not suffer an intellectual impairment and would be better suited for regular schooling, social stigma and unpreparedness in the local schools has prevented him from attending a regular school. Leonel thus attends the Arco Iris School five days a week, where he participates in general activities, recreation, and individual therapy to help him with his sign language skills and to ensure he uses his hearing aid correctly. When not in therapy or learning in class, Leonel can usually be found with his partner in crime, Tomas, or playing football with other classmates. Leonel would benefit from personalized therapy with trained professionals in sign language, additional medical testing to determine the extent of his hearing disability, and education for his family in formal sign language.
