Why this School?
Bhattedanda is situated in one of the most remote, hilly areas of Lalitpur District, and access is very difficult due to rough terrain of the roads. The school is situated in the centre of the villagers'' houses, and without this school the children from the surrounding area would have to walk another two hours to get to and from a different school. Since MSH began supporting Bhattedanda School, student numbers have increased from 44 to 104 children in 4 years!
The staff who manage the school are very dedicated towards its development. They have come from a small hut, to a concrete building because of their dedication and hard work. The growth of the school has allowed them to teach children to grade 8, where in the past they only went to grade 3. The government (in 2013) selected and awarded the Principal as one of the four best teachers in Pre-primary schools in the whole Lalitpur District.
MSH has been supporting this school since 2009, and with the support great changes have occurred for the local community.
